What I fear is that whatever it is won't be crystallized by all the events leading up to it, and we will be arguing about interpreting all her motives and movements for years to come. But, your sense that Lynch is sandbagging something about Lucy is intuitive. Or, none of these or a combination of them.
Could The Fireman have given instructions for Andy to bring Lucy to the White Lodge? Or does Andy have to do something else with Lucy and Naido? The exceptions who remember something very explicitly are Freddy Sykes (green glove guy) and Andy. Could this be a set-up to get Lucy to go to the vortex to meet with The Fireman on 10/2? In another thread, someone pointed out that no one remembers anything who sees the portal-Cole, Albert, Diane, Cooper (?), F. One of the few shots from the teasers given before The Return began shows Andy carrying a picnic basket.
Andy was transported into the White Lodge (?) with The Fireman, and, among other visions, saw Lucy. Dropping by the sheriff’s department, Hawk (Michael Horse), Andy and Lucy (Kimmy Robertson) are lined up to echo the scene in Wizard, where Frank Morgan’s Great and Powerful Oz bestows gifts of brains. Not usually my thing to theorize, but here goes (biting the bullet, baby): In season two episode 17, Cooper, having solved the Laura Palmer mystery, intends to say goodbye to the Pacific Northwest mountain town. This week: more of Lucys baby daddy drama, one incredible Leland scene and still Harold Fucking Smith.
